1. Welcome & Apologies
Andy Thompson opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. Apologies were received from Hazel Campbell and Jane McCallum. Each person present briefly introduced him or herself.
2. Minutes of meeting held on 1 April 2008
The minutes were accepted as a true record.
3. MUGA (Multi Use Games Area)
Charlie Haggerty reported that he had contacted the relevant bodies regarding funding which had previously been promised for the building of a MUGA. All funding has now expired except for a possible £15,000. Simon Jones and Robin Hoyle updated the meeting with regard to Greenheart’s plans to redevelop the playpark. The final design for this project is due at the end of this month after which fundraising will begin. After much discussion it was decided that the best way forward would be to combine the playpark and MUGA into a single project, separated into two phases. Greenheart will work alongside the PC, offering support and assistance in developing a business plan for the MUGA whilst the playpark is being redeveloped. Then the MUGA will be completed under phase two of the project. This will avoid clashes in fundraising for both facilities at the same time. It was suggested that the Community Development Trust should be approached, as any village activity should be channelled through this umbrella organisation. More people should be encouraged to become involved in this project. Charlie Haggerty agreed to be the link person between Greenheart and the PC.
4. National Conference for Parents and Parent Councils
Andy Thompson and Cathie Moir will attend this conference in Glasgow on Saturday 7th June.
5. AOB
Contributions for the next edition of The Blane should be in by May 20th.
The meeting agreed that the school could order the new adventure trail for the playground. This has been funded by the SPF at a cost of £5000.
Hazel Campbell has offered to organise a sponsored walk in Mugdock in September as a fundraising venture.
Bernd Schwahn recommended that the PC take out group insurance with the Scottish Parent Teacher Council to give the PC, and particularly the SPF, legal cover for liability. This was endorsed by everyone.
6. Date of Next Meeting
Tuesday 17th June 7.45pm in the school.
Andy Thompson closed the meeting, thanking everyone for coming.
