Following a successful AGM, the Strathblane Parent Council can now proudly announce the setting-up of a number of working groups, aimed at tackling the issues you told us were top of your priority list. Each group has some core members in place, but we need more, and that’s where you to come in. The groups are:

The Communications Working Group (COMMS) – A small team dedicated to working with teachers and school staff to improve upon existing lines of communications and to find other ways to keep parents informed and up-to-date with their child’s progress.

The Strathblane Primary Fundraisers Group (SPF) – The SPF is already up and running for this year, but with events to be run and funds raised, new members are always welcome!

The Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) Working Group – If you have experience of large-project funding and/or fund administration you’d be especially welcome on this group please let us know if you’re interested.

The Nutrition Working Group – Anyone who is interested in developing guidance on healthy snacks for our children at school is invited to join an informal working group. The Snack Guidance will be presented to the already established School Nutrition Action Group (SNAG) to allow for discussion with pupils’ and staff representatives and will be made available to all parents for approval.

The Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) Working Group – Following the popularity of last term’s after-school French lessons for p3 the Parent Council has identified a number of specialist tutors in the areas of language, creative arts and sport who would be willing to provide after-school classes. If you’re able to provide tuition, have experience of working with tutors, have worked with relevant legislation (ie disclosure, insurance etc), or would simply like to help organise events then we’d love to talk to you!

You can be on as many groups as you like, and even if you can’t make the initial meetings we’d still like to have you on board. We’d also like to have your e-mail addresses and phone numbers. These details will be used only by the working groups and won’t be passed on to any third parties (or added to the Parent Council mailing list). Thanks!
